"Beefcake"

Hi there,

I’m releasing a new song every Tuesday from now until my new EP Heavy Light comes out on 4.5.22.

The first one is called “Beefcake”, and you can listen to it here.

I wrote the melody for “Beefcake” over a decade ago, walking to my dorm from the college gym. I was thinking about my body. I was wondering if fitness was about preserving my health or destroying my self-image. I asked if my one corporeal being should ever be regarded with shame. I noticed this line of thinking was only one of many slipways into turbulent private seas. 

I play guitars and sing on this song, supported by Andrew Daly Frank on bass, Ben Wagner on drums, Ian Wayne on synthesizers, and Cole Kamen-Green on trumpet. It was produced by Ian Wayne and Andrew Daly Frank, engineered by Ian Wayne and Andrew Daly Frank, and mastered by Mike Gillilian at Giltone Mastering.
